Voices of Scotland

This is a documentary and fine art photography project that captures the diversity of spiritual and magical practices in Scotland. This work explores the intersection of identity, belief, resistance and tradition. It adopts an anthropological lens to examine how ritual and magic allow people to approach otherness, reconcile with death and reconnect with nature. These practices are seen as an act of resistance and reclamation of power in response to the established order. Through intimate portraiture and in-depth interviews with participants, this project seeks to break the stigma associated with paganism and other magical and spiritual beliefs, giving visibility to and honouring the people who practise them while broadening cultural and social understandings of these practices in a contemporary context.
